My first try at this.

A wee peak through the trees

This was a lucky catch. I love this image.

Rainbow through eucalyptus trees. Natures frame to an untouchable object.

Same sunset, different photographers.

I was skimming through various peoples tweets and came across a picture that struck my memory. Not two weeks ago I took a picture of a brilliant sunset that matched. I uploaded my film tonight and the dates match too. Scottish lad Sam Heughan (@samheughan) and I seem to have taken a picture of the same SoCal sunset, almost at the same time, I either captured it late.. or early.

What a magical feeling.

Ironically, I took a picture of the sunset the day before also.. that looks more like a match. Date on the image is proof though.. Fun stuff. *cheers* Mr. Heughan.

Sam’s picture and mine. Only slightly off time and I’m a fair distance from the coast.

Here is my image from the day before.. the stunning colours match, but the clouds.. not so much now that I look at it again. Thought I would share regardless, as it is a beauty too. Enjoy.

It’s been one of the toughest years of my life, I hope to get back into posting again.

My Ash does bark

The bark of my beloved Ash tree.

I find the details fascinating, “stop and smell the roses” type of capture.

Strange pattern in the sky

This effect in the sky reminds me of a baby blanket my aunt made me as a small child.

Image taken at twilight, my fav time of day.

Stange clouds

I was out with the dogs the other night and saw these strange clouds in the distance.

Even to the naked eye they almost looked photoshopped, but really pretty.

Sweet memory vine

We recently brought home a beautiful little vine for a section of our front wrought iron fence, called a sweet memory. Its display is really impressive.

The camera is starting to have trouble with the focus from time to time, as it was when I took some of these images… but I kinda like how these couple of images (as out of focus as they are) turned out, especially the last one. The first three are perfect.

Wonder if this vine will help me keep my own thoughts on track? ..Probably not.

We have several lizards around the home that are all affectionately referred to as ‘Leonardo’ by the family. They often like to sunbath on the shelf outside the kitchen window, much to the enjoyment of my cats. The cats know them by name, we just have to say it and they come flying out of nowhere to come and see. They know that is the only part of the kitchen counter they are allowed on, is right by the window.

I keep a bucket under the tap for the garden hose outback, until I can get a handy-person to replace it. The plumber who changed our homes pipes had the genius idea of welding the thing on… so it’s virtually impossible for me to change it myself.

A couple of months ago the family was out back when they came running to get me, there was a lizard trading water in the bucket. Goodness knows how long. The poor little soul, but he/she was ever so fortunate that we were there to lift them out in time. They must have been sunbathing on the shelf above the bucket and slipped.

Poor little luv was pale and freezing and clearly exhausted, didn’t even struggle, as if it knew we were helping them. Or too scared or tired to care one way or another.

It was late evening, but there was still just enough sunlight on some rocks in the far corner of our yard. After drying and warming him as best I could in the middle of my hands I gently placed him on one of the rocks to help him gain body heat back.

I finally uploaded the pictures of him sunbathing. He had scurried off home before the last of the daylight left the evening sky.

I now keep a couple of fallen tree branches in this bucket so it doesn’t happen again.

Our new Japanese Maple

Out of the ashes she rises, so, somewhat naturally, we named her “Phoenix”.

Our beloved thirty+ year mini plum crossed over last year after a nasty infestation of termites which we didn’t know about until its branches started cracking from lack of ability to support itself anymore, the poor thing. We treated the stump, added an ornamental solar lantern and planted our new Japanese Maple next to it.
